When you first step down their front path you can see that Tyler and Casey love their home and take great pride in its presentation. From the lush lawns and a thriving garden, through to the beautifully styled interior, this immaculate home is a reflection of the happiness it has brought to this couple.
Here’s what Casey had to say about building with Geelong Homes.
- Can you tell us about your decision to build a new home over buying an existing home? “Taking the step to buy our first home was filled with excitement, nerves and butterflies, but in the end the experience is something that we will both look back on together with pure joy. Tyler my fiancé and I went into the process overwhelmed, but we couldn’t have been further from reality. From the outset and throughout, the process was smooth and we thoroughly enjoyed being first home buyer’s.The decision to build over buying gave us fulfilment every step of the process. From design choices to site progress, it was rewarding knowing that we made the choices together and would soon be living in our home. The advice and support from the Geelong Homes team gave us peace of mind and confidence. We were provided with great customer service and detailed information which answered all of our questions. With excitement and many visits to Ikea and Freedom, time flew by before we were given our keys to our new home.”
- 2. How did it feel to receive the keys to your new home?“Moving into our home was like a dream come true, it does sound cliché but it was our dream to own a home together. The transition was seamless and filled with lots of takeaway picnics on the dining room floor and lots of excited visitors that were proud of our achievements and impressed by our new home. Our home brought us a great sense of achievement that is still with us today.”
- 3. Your garden and landscaping finish off your home beautifully. Who is the green thumb of the two of you?“Tyler prides himself on our garden, he has become quite the green thumb since we built our home. We did all our landscaping ourselves with shovels in hand and on a budget. I haven’t so much as picked up a rake or hedge trimmers since we completed it as Tyler is very particular, there isn’t a blade of grass out of line and he enjoys his time tending to his lawn. Men tend to develop quite a love for their lawn, don’t they?”
- 4. Your interior is immaculately styled. Can you tell us about the colours and finishes you’ve selected for your home?“The interior is my domain and my forte. Little touches that make a house a home give me an overwhelming feeling of joy. The addition of a scented candle or fresh blooms can simply change the way you feel within a home. We have drawn inspiration from Hamptons, cottage & coastal styles to tailor our interior decorating. Hamptons styled finishes can be quite expensive, so with our first home buyers budget, we chose neutral finishes and decided to use decorative accents to include the genre. We chose gloss white cabinetry, light timber laminate flooring & Essa stone bench tops to make a statement in our neutral palette and took advantage of an upgrade package which included our beautiful Westinghouse oven and cooktop.”
- 5. How has the suburb changed since you first moved in? “We were the first people to move into this street so have really seen the whole neighbourhood evolve. We do feel more at home now that the street is established and we’re really enjoying the friendly young community. We also find it so convenient having the new Warralily Village open which has the supermarket, doctors, cafes and restaurants.
- 6. Now that you’ve been living in your home for two years, how have you found the overall quality of the home?We are impressed with the high-quality finishes, as well as the standard inclusions that Geelong Homes offer. Especially with the entry-level pricing. We were thrilled to know that the Colourbond roofing we had wanted wasn’t an additional extra cost and was included in the building package. These features are what set Geelong Homes apart from the rest.”
- 7. After building your first home do you have any future plans to build again?“We look forward and plan to build our forever home one day, but for now we look forward to making memories in our home with our wedding day on the horizon and hopefully one day in the near future our spare room can be transformed into a nursery. We would have never thought that a slab, walls and a roof could invoke so much emotion. We didn’t build our first house with Geelong Homes, we built our home.”
