Frequently Asked Questions - New Home Designs

Designing the perfect floor plan involves considering several key elements that range from choosing a well-connected and safe location that suits your lifestyle to optimising land size and orientation for sunlight and privacy to planning a functional house plan that includes adequate car spaces, ample space for living areas and a functional kitchen and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms that suits your household’s needs and preferences.

Budget is also another crucial aspect that makes the home journey of each homeowner with Geelong Homes unique and tailored. It’s important to prioritise essential elements when setting a budget, but choosing a Geelong Homes design means you can take advantage of our standard quality inclusions, which you can then choose to upgrade and customise according to your budget and preferences.

Discuss your requirements with our new home consultant to find a design that suits your family’s contemporary living needs.

We offer a range of new house designs for home buyers interested in:

Essential Range

The most popular with our clients — perfect for either a short or wide block width.

Terrace Range

Stylish terrace living in a dual occupancy design for those looking to subdivide and build multiple dwellings on their block.

The best home design for Geelong would ideally incorporate features that respond to its coastal location and weather.

Homes in Geelong face challenges such as wind, salt spray, potential bushfires, and wildlife. Additionally, there are specific council requirements regarding building along the coast that need to be adhered to.

Therefore, an ideal coastal home design would crucially incorporate sturdy construction materials, proper insulation, and strategic placement of windows and doors to maximise natural ventilation and lighting while minimising exposure to harsh winds. Designs that incorporate outdoor living spaces like decks or verandas will also take advantage of the scenic outdoors.

Visit our Latrobe 337 display home at 457 O’Hallorans Rd, Lara to personally check out one of the homes we designed to suit the coast.

At Geelong Homes, we’ve created a seven-step building journey that serves as a clear guide on what to expect when you choose us to build your dream home.

And once all this serious stuff is out of the way, the real fun can truly begin inside our Style Studio.

When it comes to envisioning your dream home, we all have a sense of what we like.

Before embarking on your interior design journey, creating mood boards to bring to your Style Studio appointment is a great starting point to visualise how you want your home to look.

“Mood boards are an excellent tool to ignite inspiration for your colour appointments,” advises Mia Steinfort, an interior designer and the coordinator of our Style Studio.

In the Style Studio, you will meet one of our professional colour consultants who will guide you through the selection of your home’s colours and fixtures, help plan your electrical fixtures and fittings, and help you choose from our exterior selections — such as roofing, cladding, brickwork and hardware.

But no need to worry, your Geelong Homes design consultant knows their stuff and will make your Style Studio experience straightforward and enjoyable.

Geelong Homes is a second-generation family business—Geelong and Surf Coast born and raised. We know our region, we know our community, and we know our stuff.

We have a saying here at Geelong Homes, “build every home like it’s your own”.

Most importantly, quality is everything to you and us. That’s why our quality assurance process involves two internal inspections and an independent quality inspection before it’s presented to you.

And when we hand over the keys, we don’t just call it a day. Our after-build service department is a team of two – Ricky and Carmel – who treat every home as if it were their own and deal with any problems that might rarely arise.
